P52 | Week 1 | Rules of Composition | Ocean City Photographer

I am doing a 52 week project challenge with other photographers and this week we are breaking the rules of composition.  While this would not make my top ten for client galleries because of the cut off of the right arm and left fingers, I personally enjoy the look of this photograph.  I like the sweetness and innocence of light contrasted with the dark hair and background.

Announcing the "Locals Tuesday" Feature | Dana Marie Photography MD Photographer

I would like to announce the start of "Locals Tuesday".  Every Tuesday I will be featuring a local business or tourist attraction on my blog.  The blog will consist of a description about the business and service they provide, what makes their business unique, a special going on if they have one and want to share it, and a photo or two from the business.  This is not a free photoshoot opportunity for businesses.  I may take a couple of images on my own for the blog (no charge) but this is not a full blown photo shoot by any means and business owners will not be given any unwatermarked photos that I take but will be permitted to share the photos and blog post from my blog.  This is a fun way to share about local businesses and help people network their businesses with mine.  Examples would be retail stores, gyms, attractions, artists, carpentry work, miscellaneous contractors, restaurants, etc.  Please send me an email if you would like your business or service to be considered for a "Locals Tuesday" feature.

Taking a personal day with my daughter and teaching her how to shoot.  She is having a ball learning and there were a ton of horses out that day that we could admire with our cameras from afar.  She just received her very own DSLR for Christmas and can't wait to learn more with it!

What a super fun family photo session!  We went for a nice walk through part of their neighborhood and down a pier in the frigid cold temps and pretty high wind.  These guys were super troopers braving the weather and keeping bright smiles on their faces!  Loved the fun attitudes and bright eyes on this bunch!  Ran inside to catch a quick shot in front of the tree at the conclusion of our photo shoot.

Fun family time in the studio with this family and their adorable little doggy!  We took family photos for their holiday cards and gifts.  The original plan was to take the family photo outside at a local park but weather kept us from being able to pull that off.  Such cutie pies!

Deep Creek Lake | Family Adventure Photos

My husband and I took a weekend trip to the mountains to Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland.  The weather was damp and cold, we tried to hike at a few different places.  Due to Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy coming through in October, many of the hiking trails at Swallow Falls and Blackwater Falls were closed due to storm damage.  We stopped at Dan's Mountain on the way home.  It was so foggy, I can't begin to tell you how scary it was to look down through the thick fog.  The scenery was beautiful and we can't wait to go back when the weather is nicer.

Such a sweet baby boy and full of smiles!  This little guy came in for some Christmas photos and loved rocking my sled.

Love this little sweet pea.  Christmas pjs make the best photos.  We took a few poses on the sled and she had to bring her cousin Brayden in for a quick shot!
